How to Become a WordPress Editor

Here are the steps you need to follow to become an Editor for a WordPress account/blog.

1. Setup a WordPress account. You don’t need to setup a blog to use WordPress, but you do need an account. Look at the picture below.

Notice that you will need both an email address, user name and password – please write this down or use a Password Manager like LastPass. Finally click on the Signup button.
You will receive a confirmation email from WordPress that you do need to click on in your email to confirm. Check your Spam folder in case you don’t see the email. If it does go to Spam, make sure you indicate that it is not Spam, so you won’t have this problem in the future.

2. Now that you have the account, notify the Blog/WordPress account Administrator and he/she will send you an email invitation to become an Editor. Make sure you give him/her the email address you used to signup for your account. Many of us have more than one email address. All you have to do is click on the link in the email to accept the Invitation. Below is an example of the email you will receive.

Once you accept the invitation, you will also receive a confirmation email like the one below.

You will also notice that there is a “Learn WordPress“link. This will give you some of the basics on learning how to post., but it’s a bit complicated, so I’d recommend a class from another Editor to show you the basics.

WordPress continues to change its software on posting. I prefer to use the Classic Dashboard to make posts. You will see that as an option.
