Sit with a Veteran

One new member tip is that before you are scheduled for a job which you have never done, sit with the person doing that job the prior week. I noticed that Sue was scheduled as Vote Counter one week and she sat with Kelly the prior week to learn the ropes ahead of time.

Another option is that whenever you are assigned a job for the first time, ask a veteran to sit with you to help you out. Some jobs are a bit complicated and confusing and it’s always best to have some assistance that first time.

Ideally, your coach will sit with you and help you through the role, but if he/she is not available any veteran is always glad to help out.

This is also a good thing for the Toastmaster to look out for. Any new member doing a job the first time out ought to be assigned some help.
