Officer Reports: Educational Vice President Adam Kutell reported that he offered an “effective evaluation” workshop this past weekend. He noted that the club does not provide formal effective evaluation training. He has several suggestions which will be brought before the membership in future meetings. These suggestions include expanding the maximum of evaluation time from 2-1/2 minutes to 3-1/2 minutes (the contest length) and rearranging the structure so that table topics is at the end of the program. It would be helpful if the General Evaluator provided advance notice to Evaluators regarding whom they will be evaluating so that Evaluator and Speaker can discuss the objectives of the speech and the Speaker’s speech goals in advance. Also, time should be made available at the end of or after the meeting for the Evaluator to discuss in depth with the Speaker how she/he had performed.
