If you’re going to use volunteers in your presentation, it’s best to sign them up ahead of time. If you don’t know the group ask one of the leaders who might be a good willing participant and then go up and make sure it’s ok with them.
Jolene Brown shared this tip From Speakernet News – “a speaker “randomly chose” a volunteer out of the audience for one of his “interactive segments.” The person very reluctantly went along with it, due to the “relentless cheers” from the audience. The “volunteer” turned out to be a representative from the event’s major sponsor. His comment later to the event planner? “Don’t even think of asking for money again.”
