When new people come to a Toastmaster meeting, they are nervous, intimidated and don’t know what to expect. That’s why it’s so important to make them feel comfortable and explain to them what is going on.
To do that, the Greeter needs to not only give them the materials from the Guest Manual, but also sit with the guest and try to explain what is going on during the meting. Too many times I see Greeters hand out material and then the guest goes and finds a seat on their own. Every Greeter needs to be proactive and sit with the guest or if there’s more than one, find a fellow Toastmaster to sit with the guest and help them during the meeting.
