EXECUTIVE SECTION
OFFICERS REPORT: None
COMMITTEE REPORT: The Webster competition – Rob and Max are going to be judges on Dec 7th and 6th. Judges are needed both days, please shoot him an email with your phone number if you are interested.
OLD BUSINESS: Steve W. re-visited the CLE role; he wanted to know if we voted on it. It was voted on and passed with majority by club members. This role cannot be listed with other roles on Turbobase because of the way turbobase is structured. Hence, if anyone sends an email to members with a role, CLE doesn’t receive this email. Adam mentioned that CLE is present so that whoever brings their CL books can get credit and also it counts towards the club, it helps us achieve the presidents distinguished status. The TI presents such a role since Turbobase doesn’t have it; please re-visit the role list as sent out by VPE. George mentioned that this role might be redundant. Erin clarified that this role is just to fill out the books so we can get credit. Diane said that she did have a similar problem; she did ask the TM and got a great clarification, in turn doing four evaluations on CL book, to complete the requirements for CL role for other members. Rob added that this is an important role, before the CLE role; there was always a need for last minute identification for someone to fill the book. Rob mentioned that it is a useful tool and someone needs to re-iterate the role and help them achieve CL. Adam mentioned that it makes this easier to get credit for the future. Steve said we are getting caught up in the complex situation, while we should be primarily focused on speaking skills. Alan supported the issue and said that it might drive us towards being more bureaucratic. The issue was tabled for a future meeting.
NEW BUSINESS: Jerry Paul still has to fill the role of VPE and Sergeant at Arms roles open to and would like for someone to volunteer for these roles. Please talk to Jerry if you are interested in taking up leadership roles and a slate can be presented in this term. Jerry explained both the open roles to the membership.
CORRESPONDENCE AND ANNOUNCEMENTS: Matt talked about the Christmas party; it is on the 18th of Dec from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. There will be a request for approving budget in the first week of December. White Elephant exchange for not more than $10. Whoever wants to participate can bring in a gift, and also write your name in on the sheet and sign up to bring something for the party. The book, Spirit of D8 Toastmaster has been sent out to publish, thank you for the stories: Rob, Brent, Carol, Carl and Matt. Gina and Shreya will be at the District Conference on Friday to present the book, please order your copy by sending an email to Gina or Shreya and we can arrange for a printed version to be sent to you.
