A few weeks ago, our club held an online-only meeting while the community center was in use. What could have been a routine virtual gathering turned into something fresh and inspiring.
Victor Mattison stepped into the evaluator role for Jake Mondschein’s speech—and he added a twist none of us had seen before. Instead of delivering just a verbal evaluation, Victor created a PowerPoint presentation to accompany his feedback. Anyone who has ever built a PowerPoint knows it takes thought and effort to organize ideas clearly and present them in a visually engaging way.
Victor went a step further by capturing screenshots of Jake during key moments of his speech, highlighting effective use of hand gestures and expression. While pulling this off in person would have been tricky, Zoom made it possible—and seamless. Because he was already at his computer, Victor could both track Jake’s delivery and capture those illustrative snapshots.
The result? A dynamic, visual evaluation that gave Jake targeted, memorable feedback—and gave the rest of us a new idea for elevating our own evaluations.
So next time you’re evaluating on Zoom, why not try this approach yourself? With a little creativity, you might just take your evaluations to the next level.
