VPE: Debbie Young requested that we keep Bill Collier and his wife Joyce in our prayers as she is dealing with cancer. It would be nice to drop him a note or an email. The Club is still looking for a Vice President of PR and a Vice President of Membership. These are important jobs but do not require a big time commitment. She reminded us to think about all that we have gotten out of Toastmasters. If you would be willing to serve, speak with Debbie or with Vic. We will be holding a speech contest on January 29, 2025. We will need a Contest Master and what is essentially General Evaluator. See Debbie if you are interested in these roles or have questions about them. She will be sending out an email regarding participating in the contest. This is the International Speech and Evaluation Contest. She informed the Club that one of the speeches tonight is the Managing a Difficult Audience project and that the 4 interrupters have been chosen and that this is not a “free for all”.

Committee Reports: Youth Leadership: Jim Salih reported that it starts Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Sunset Hills Community Center from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. We will be working with the Optimist Club. It will run Tuesday nights for 6 weeks. The 7th week will be graduation at OUR meeting. There will be no cost. It is for ages 12-17 but we will accept children under age 12 with the appropriate level of maturity. If you would like to sign someone up, send an email to Jim at jimsalih@gmail.com. It’s basically Toastmasters for Teens. Toastmasters will be permitted on a limited basis to observe as we do not want to intimidate the kids with a large number of grownups at the meeting. If you want to observe, co-ordinate with Jim.
